Crest a hill on the mountain side
Sunflowers grow far and wide
Taking the day in stride
Hiking the countryside
Snow melts from mountain peaks
Icing the sides of the creek
Blue skies up above
Spring has finally come
A flock of butterflies gather near my feet...
The beauty of nature - the art of the world
Colors fly before my eyes as butterflies take flight
Yellow, red and golden wings quietly fluttering by...
The beauty of nature - the art of the world

CLEAN HOUSE by K. Dennis copyright 2021

The hotel maid was dismayed, unfairly portrayed
As a wench for hire who always gets paid
A rich diplomat failed to get his way
Said "Nothing happened!" but his masquerade
Was cheap and didn't play
On the subway train to the red-eye plane
The whisper campaign roared into flames
She told the truth plain, he got a migraine
Defame, deflect, pay off, no way I'm to blame
She said it's time to clean house
Broom up - it's time to clean house
The hotel maid was dismayed, unfairly portrayed
The cops were impatient for him to explain
She caught the jerk on her phone
Pulled the pin on a truth grenade
The internet felt her pain
She said it's time to clean house
Broom up - it's time to clean house

CHANCE ENCOUNTER by K. Dennis / Dave Allen

I thought I saw you at Stella's one day
You ordered coffee then walked away
I wanted to ask you, what's your name?
Instead I just stood back, ain't it a shame
These random chances are passing me by...
I play a guitar in Stella's back room
Wednesdays and Fridays, Saturdays at noon
I'd hoped I'd see you sometime passing through
I missed my chance baby, you did too
These chance encounters, these twists of fate
These doubts of myself are my great mistake
I gave up thinking we'd meet again
The chances of seeing each other are so slim
You never came back, I looked for you there
Hoping to find you in the front chair
These chance encounters, these twists of fate
These doubts of myself are my great mistake
These chance encounters, these twists of fate
These doubts of myself are my great mistake

DRIVING, NOT ARRIVING by K. Dennis copyright 2021

Cartons flying off the back of the truck
Bob pulled over to pick 'em up
Never saw the car
He died rescuing some toilet paper
Fifty hay bales stacked in Jake's truck bed
Rollin' down the road, got passed by a Corvette
Who tossed a burnin' butt
The fireball could be seen for miles around
Spinning on the shoulder, stuck in the mud
Caught the road in time to hit a Winnebago
Driving, not arriving
Interpol on the radio
Pull up to the store
Can't remember what I came here for
Driving, not arriving
Wondering the meaning of that song
Pull up the the store
Can't remember what I came here for

THE CHERRY HILLS GHOST by K. Dennis / Dave Allen
Copyright 2021 Slowfist Productions / Skyler Brooke Productions
A large house sits back away from the road
The doctor who owns it is very well known
And if stories are true, a presence lives there
Giving warm rooms breaths of cool air
Oh these pressures of movement too quick for the eye
There's this feeling of brushing someone near by
Oh those conduits or portals dimensions in time
Poltergeist experts claiming a find
What do you say when there's nothing to see
The difference between madness and reality
When the beam's cracking sound breaks the night's sleep
And the spirits of anger yell out muted shrieks
And you wonder, how did the doctor survive
A house that seems so alive?
Only a few will know the truth of the Cherry Hills ghost...

LAY THAT BODY DOWN by K. Dennis copyright 2021 Slowfist Productions All rights reserved
Terry got his COVID cash
Thinking "I'm no tool!"
Bought a rifle and camo pants
Bathroom mirror cool
Took his gun to the protest march
Maybe get on tv
A screaming dude knocked him down
Terry pulled the trigger, then he blinked
That bullet laid that fellow down
Terry laid that body down
That bullet laid that fellow down
Terry laid that body down
Rosie got her relief check
Thinking "I'm no fool"
Ain't nobody here with a mask
At the party at the pool
Couldn't smell her momma's cooking
Had to get help for grandma's cough
Told the nurse "It ain't what you say,
That fake Chinese virus stuff!"
Rosie laid her grandma down
She laid her body down
Rosie laid her grandma down
She laid that body down
He laid that body down
She laid that body down
He laid that body down

LAZY EDDIE by K. Dennis / Dave Allen

I think this weather is perfect
For me to go the park
I should work out every morning
Somehow I forget to start
Lazy Eddie eats spaghetti
Never washes his clothes
Let's say we knock off early
I know of a really good bar
Sit back, have a couple cold ones
I'm not ready to start
Lazy Eddie eats spaghetti
Never washes his clothes
Lazy Eddie says he's ready
But he never shows
I think this weather is perfect
For me to go for a drive
I would but I don't have a car now
Or a license to drive
Lazy Eddie eats spaghetti
'Cause it's easy to fix
Lazy Eddie never knows
What day it is

Something Wrong

SOMETHING WRONG by K. Dennis / Dave Allen
Copyright 2021 Slowfist Productions / Skyler Brooke Productions
Was a kid in the suburbs
Summer of '63 with neighborhood kids
Families, enemies
One thing that happened, happened one night
Mom and dad talked in hushed tones
What did they know? What might...
Just two blocks over, a dad got his gun
Took down both of his sons
Shot his screaming wife
Fired second rounds
Picked up his crying daughter
Whispering "you ain't done nothing wrong"
He walked to the neighbor's, sat her down on the porch
Thinking, "what went wrong?"
And the man, he came to the door
And he looked at the man with gun
"What has become of you?"
I think I've done something wrong
I think I've done something wrong
I think I've done something wrong
The story faded with time
Except for one little girl
Thirty years later, every Sunday
In the ward
In the ward, there sits her dad
Watching tv with visions of mom
Sometimes he'd think
Sometimes he'd know
Sometimes he'd mutter
I think I've done
I've done something
I've done something wrong
I think I've done something wrong...

THAT'S WHEN THE SHOT GLASS FLEW by Dave Allen
Copyright 2021 Skyler Brooke Productions
We were a flashy rock band in 1979
Stuck playing cowboy bars in Cheyenne
One night a hat said "Play us some country -
Willie or Waylon or Eddie Rabbit"
Our drummer the joker said
"We ain't from Nashville, it's not what we do"
The hat downed his drink, started walking talking trash
We started Gimme Three Steps and filled the floor fast
Another night, another bar
The drummer went too far
Drank too much, started to cuss
Stood on a chair and overshared
"I hate friggin' cowboys" he yelled
And he left us no choice
Pulled him from the chair, a woman grabbed his hair
A tattoo with a pool cue was blocking the door
Nothing's ever easy, anything we do...
That's when the first glass flew
That's when the shot glass flew
We're not heroes, we're not soldiers
We're not saving mankind
We're not movie stars, that's not what we are
A band of brothers who rock
Nothing's ever easy, anything we do...
That's when the first glass flew
That's when the shot glass flew
Stowing our gear, getting pelted with beer
The promoter runs over and tells us twice
"Keep your heads down, people pack in this town
They don't like drummers who run their mouth!"
Pulling away, lit up a j
Started to relax and come down
Little red lights in the rear view mirror
The cops gave us a room, well good morning judge
Nothing's ever easy, anything we do...
That's when the first glass flew
That's when the shot glass flew
We're not heroes, we're not soldiers
We're not saving mankind
We're not movie stars, that's not what we are
A band of brothers who rock
That's when the first glass flew
That's when the shot glass flew
Nothing's ever easy
That's when the shot glass flew

A STAR IS BORN by K. Dennis / Dave Allen
Copyright 2021 Slowfist Productions / Skyler Brooke Production
Running on the blacktop, coming to a quick stop
Falling in slightly behind
Rising with the right hand, swapping to the left hand
Through the rim just in time
He's such a talent, one of a kind
A star is born, diamond in the rough
A gifted son, with the magic touch
Running the equations in her mind she finds
The answers to the questions that the others have missed
Combining quantum theory and complex spatial physics
She proved her math is correct
She's such a talent, she's such a find
A star is born, diamond in the rough
A gifted one with the magic touch
Running on the blacktop, coming to a quick stop
Falling in slightly behind
Rising with the right hand, swapping to the left hand
Through the rim just in time
A star is born, diamond in the rough
A gifted son with the magic touch
A star is born, a special one
